Programs I offer:

1. Yoga + Creative Movement for
Little Ones (Pre-school SK)
2. Yoga for Kids (Grades 1 to 6)
3. Yoga for Tweens + Teens
(Grades 7+)

Yoga is a terrific experience for children of all ages. Both physically demanding as well as mentally and emotionally relaxing, yoga can help kids excel in sports, focus on their homework, relieve stress (yes, kids have it too!) and develop good social skills. Best of all, yoga encourages people to do their best but not in a competitive way. It is suitable for all levels of fitness and capabilities.

Young children  (ages 3 - 5) enjoy connecting with their bodies,
minds and breath though playful postures that are inspired by nature and
animals such as slithering likes snakes, standing tall like trees and
shining like the sun. We also sing lots of songs which encourages creative
movement. Even the little ones as young as 3, can lie still for a few
minutes in savasana at the end of a class which teaches them some self
soothing skills.
With older children (ages 6 - 12), I encourage a deeper sense of
body awareness and self exploration.  We practice flowing sequences,
balancing poses, breathing exercises and creative relaxation techniques.
Partner poses and cooperative yoga games inspire positive peer interaction for all different shapes, ages and sizes.
Teenagers (12+) are capable of doing yoga just like adults however I
like to make the poses relevant to a teen's daily life. For example, how you learn can become better aware of your posture, how do deal with cramps or PMS + how certain types of breathing can help to calm the body while preparing for a test.
Regardless of age, kids in my classes with me will:
- gain strength, flexibility and balance with their physical bodies through
poses (asanas)

- learn both calming & energizing breathing techniques (through breathing
and relaxation exercises)

- have fun, within a non competitive environment fostering confidence,
creativity, self awareness and focus.
I also have some aromatherapy and massage training so periodically I
will incorporate partner + self massage into my sessions. This is a great
way for kids to connect with their bodies. With the permission of the
child's parent I aromatherapy blends for use during the class. This extra
sensory component makes the class engaging and unique. The kids love it!
Again, with parental permission I often include a healthy snack that
relates to yoga somehow. For example I might give out high fibre, low sugar (nut free) oatmeal cookies and make the connection between fibre in an oatmeal + why this is good for our bodies... and that part of yoga is not just stretching but about learning how to treat our bodies with honour and respect by making healthy food choices
.
Classes for younger kids generally range
from 30 - 45 minutes and 45 mins - 1 hour in length,
for the older ones.
